Meet biopetfood®
Let´s talk about our brand
Our Mission at Bio Pet Food®
We are a team of dedicated Portuguese veterinarians committed to enhancing the health and happiness of pets. At Bio Pet Food®, we create our products with the same level of care and attention we would for our own meals, utilizing only the finest natural and diverse ingredients. This approach ensures a practical, tasty diet for pets.
As pet owners ourselves, we deeply understand the importance of nurturing the well-being of our furry companions. That's why we advocate for a natural and varied diet for all pets.
Innovative Approach to Pet Nutrition
Bio Pet Food® stands out as the first brand globally to incorporate human-grade canned proteins to rehydrate our essential dehydrated bases. This innovative method allows for the creation of combinations of meat or fish and selected base, positioning us at the forefront of offering modular dog food. With separate meat and base, we are pioneers in allowing unprecedented customization to meet the specific needs of each animal. Both our protein sources and ingredients meet the quality standards of human food, setting us apart from other pet food brands and elevating the nutritional value of our products.
Quality Ingredients for Optimal Health
Our human-grade essential bases feature an assortment of fruits, vegetables, roots, algae, and seeds, providing pets with vital nutrients. These ingredients are dehydrated to prolong shelf life and ease transportation. When rehydrated with our canned protein, they transform into a delightful natural meal.
Additionally, we offer options to include natural desserts and boosts of human-grade superfoods, enhancing the nutritional content tailored to each pet's needs. Superfoods, known for their nutrient density and health benefits, contribute significantly to the overall health and wellness of pets.
Understanding Our Unique and Nutritious Offerings
At Bio Pet Food®, we're inspired by scientific research in the field of pet nutrition. Studies in this area, like the one titled "Benefits of Super Food and Functional Food for Companion Animals" by M. Ememe and Chukwuma Ememe, published on March 1, 2017, explore the potential health benefits of superfoods and functional foods for pets, including dogs, cats, and horses. These studies often highlight how certain foods can contribute to aspects of pet health, such as skin and coat condition, digestion, immune system support, and overall well-being.
While this research informs our understanding and inspires our product development, we ensure that our claims about Bio Pet Food® products are based on our own formulations and quality standards. We believe in the power of natural, high-quality ingredients and are committed to providing nutritious options for your pets, supported by a broad understanding of pet dietary needs.
For those interested in the science of pet nutrition, studies like the one by Ememe and Ememe (2017) can be insightful. [Reference: Ememe, M., & Ememe, C. (2017). Benefits of Super Food and Functional Food for Companion Animals. DOI: 10.5772/65946.]
Why is Our Brand Called Bio Pet Food®?
Bio Pet Food® was founded 10 years ago with a mission to provide healthy and naturally suitable food for pets. We adopted the slogan "biologically appropriate" to embody our commitment to high-quality nutrition. Our journey has been dedicated to perfecting recipes using the finest ingredients. We pride ourselves on transparency and honesty in our customer communications, avoiding any form of deception. It's important to note that "bio pet food" is a registered trademark and does not inherently indicate the origin or cultivation type of the ingredients used. Detailed information about the origin and cultivation of ingredients is provided on each product label and respective product page. Absence of organic labeling indicates non-organic ingredients. We endeavor to offer organic options when feasible, always prioritizing quality and safety in our ingredient selection.
Do Any Ingredients Come from Organic Sources?
Currently, our organic ingredients include Turmeric (IM1251 PT-BIO-02), Chlorella (IM820 PT-BIO-02), Maca Root (IM819 PT-BIO-02), and Matcha (IM818 PT-BIO-02).
Where is Bio Pet Food® Manufactured?
Our products are proudly manufactured in Portugal. The canning facility is in Leiria and our slaughterhouse is nearby. Our bases, supplements, and desserts factory is in Lisbon, just 14 km from our canning facility. All food is produced in human-grade facilities, adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Why Don't We Offer Complete Recipes?
We believe in offering flexibility. By providing meat, base, and supplement options separately, pet owners can customize meals to their pet's unique needs, preferences, and health conditions.
Why is the Meat in Our Products Canned Instead of Dehydrated?
Canned meat maintains its succulent texture, rich flavor, and appealing appearance better than dehydrated meat. It's cooked in the can without preservatives and includes the necessary water for mixing with a 250g base, ensuring convenience and quality. Canned meat also creates a more satisfying and tasty meal for pets.
Why Don't We Include Larger Pieces of Fruits and Vegetables in Our Essential Nutrition?
Our formulas are designed for efficiency and practicality. Smaller pieces of fruits and vegetables allow for quicker rehydration and faster preparation. While some ingredients are in powder form, they provide excellent taste and appearance once hydrated and prepared.
Where Can Our Products Be Purchased Besides Online?
Our products are available at the São Bento Veterinary Hospital store in Lisbon, Portugal.
